The production

Each tablecloth is meticulously handmade at Fondazione Le Costantine, where traditional craftsmanship is preserved through generations of artisan expertise. Every piece takes up to four months to complete. The Sfilato Leccese is one of the oldest embroidery techniques in the Salento tradition — a form of drawn threadwork where each decorative element is created by carefully removing threads from the woven cloth, then working the remaining ones by hand into an open, geometric lace. At Fondazione Le Costantine, it is practiced the way it has always been: slowly, by one pair of hands, from start to finish. Your tablecloth begins on the loom. It is then passed to an embroiderer who works the Sfilato by hand across the entire piece — a process that can take weeks on its own. The tablecloth is then stitched and personalized with your embroidered name. Each piece can be custom-made to complement your home.
